Free tool / WOD timer

WOD
/ timer.

For time, AMRAP, EMOM and Tabata intervals. Digits you can read from the floor, beeps you can hear over the music, and a link you can send the whole class. No sign-up.

Every 1:00 for 10 rounds 10:00 total

How to use it

  1. Pick the format. For time, AMRAP, EMOM, or Tabata and intervals. The fields underneath change to match.
  2. Set it up. Use the plus and minus buttons, or tap a preset. Everything you change is saved in the page address straight away.
  3. Press Start. You get a ten second count-in with beeps on 3, 2 and 1, then a long tone for go. The clock takes over the whole screen and keeps your phone awake. The screen is amber while you get ready, green while you work and red while you rest, so you can read it from across the room.
  4. Train. Each new round or rest gets its own tone, with three short beeps before it. On an AMRAP, tap the rounds panel at the bottom every time you finish one, so you are not counting in your head. Hold it to take one back. Tap anywhere else to pause.

The four formats

For time

Finish the work as fast as you can. The clock counts up from zero. Add a time cap if the workout has one and the timer stops you there; leave it at 0 and press Finish when you are done. Fran and Grace are the classic tests. Read more in the for time workout guide.

AMRAP

As many rounds as possible in a fixed window. The clock counts down and your score is rounds plus reps, so the round counter matters more than the clock. A 20 minute AMRAP is the setting for Cindy. There are more in the AMRAP guide.

EMOM

Every minute on the minute: do the work at the top of each minute and rest for whatever is left. Change Every to 120 for an every-two-minutes block, which suits heavier lifts. For alternating minutes, list the stations and the timer shows the right one each round. Thirty rounds of one minute is Chelsea. The EMOM guide covers how to program them.

Tabata and intervals

Fixed work and rest, repeated. Tabata is 20 seconds on, 10 off, eight times: four minutes that feel much longer. The same mode runs any split, so 40 on 20 off for a bike, or 30/30 for running intervals. The rest clock turns grey so you can tell work from rest at a glance.

Send the timer to your class

Every setting lives in the page address. Set up today's workout, press Copy link and paste it into the class notes or the group chat. Anyone who opens it gets the same clock, ready to start. A link for ten rounds of every-two-minutes looks like this:

Setting it up in the gym

  • Prop the phone on its side against a plate or a box. Full screen gives you the biggest digits in either orientation.
  • The screen stays on while the clock runs, on browsers that allow it (Chrome, Edge and recent Safari).
  • On iPhone, check the silent switch. Web audio follows it, so the beeps are muted while it is on silent.
  • Keyboard on a laptop or gym TV: space starts and pauses, R counts a round, F goes full screen.

/ answered.

Something missing? [email protected] →

Is this WOD timer free?
Yes. The timer runs entirely in your browser with no account, no sign-up and no ads. Open the page, set it up, press start.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It is built for a phone propped against a plate on the gym floor: the digits fill the screen, Start is the biggest button, and on browsers that support it the screen stays awake while the clock runs. Tap Full screen for the largest clock.
Why can't I hear the beeps on my iPhone?
iPhone browsers mute web audio when the ring/silent switch is set to silent. Flip the switch to ring and turn the volume up. The beeps also need one tap on Start before they can play, which is a browser rule rather than ours.
How do I do alternating minutes on the EMOM timer?
Choose EMOM, then type your movements into Alternating minutes, separated by commas: for example Row, Burpees, Rest. Round 1 shows Row, round 2 Burpees, round 3 Rest, then it starts again. Set the rounds to a multiple of the list so everyone finishes on the last station.
What is the difference between Tabata and an interval timer?
Tabata is one specific interval: 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest, 8 rounds, four minutes in total. The Intervals mode runs Tabata with one tap and also any other work and rest split, like 40 on 20 off or 30 on 30 off.
Can I send a configured timer to my class?
Yes. Every setting is saved in the page address, so press Copy link and share it. Whoever opens it gets the same timer, ready to start. Coaches put these links in the class notes or the group chat.
Does the timer keep running if I switch apps?
The clock is worked out from the real time elapsed, so it stays exact even if your phone throttles the page in the background. Some phones pause web audio while the browser is hidden, so keep the page open during the workout if you want every beep.
