Klepto is a for-time workout by Fiz, built from 3 movements. It is set at advanced level.
About Klepto
Klepto is four rounds of twenty-seven box jumps, twenty burpees and eleven heavy squat cleans. It honours U.S. Air Force Major David Brodeur, who died in Kabul in 2011 and whose call sign was Klepto.
An awkward rep scheme, on purpose
Twenty-seven, twenty and eleven are not round numbers and they do not break neatly, which is part of what makes this one uncomfortable to pace. The bigger issue is the order: two high-volume, high-breathing movements land back to back and then you are asked to pick up a genuinely heavy barbell eleven times while your heart rate is at its ceiling. Squat cleans are the least forgiving thing you can do out of breath, because a clean caught badly is a clean you have to take again.

Slow the burpees to save the cleans
The burpees are the lever. They are the only movement here where slowing down costs you almost nothing directly and buys you a great deal at the barbell. Move at a rhythm you could hold for a hundred, get off the floor, and arrive at the bar able to take a breath and make a clean lift. Singles on the cleans from the start, every round. On the box jumps, step down rather than rebounding from round two onwards, because twenty-seven jumps four times is more than enough Achilles work without adding the bounce.
What's a good Klepto time
There is a simple test for whether you have picked the right barbell, and you can run it in round one: time the eleven cleans. If they take much more than ninety seconds fresh, they will take three minutes in round four, and Klepto will have stopped being a conditioning workout and become a very slow strength session with burpees in it. Get that right and eighteen minutes is a strong result with the best near fourteen. Get it wrong and you will be somewhere past thirty-five whatever your engine is like.
